Don joined the Fitzgerald, Taylor, Fitzgerald & Pomeroy law firm in 1979 as an associate. While an associate he worked part-time in the Cortland County Public Defender’s Office. He became a partner in 1984 in the firm which is presently known as Pomeroy, Armstrong, Casullo & Monty, LLP, and has been a managing member of the firm for over the past 15 years.
Don is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Cortland County Bar Association and Broome County Bar Association. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Cortland College Foundation and the Cortland Community Foundation. He has served on the Boards of the American Cancer Society, YMCA, and O’Heron Newman Foundation. He is also a past member of the New York State Bar Association House of Delegates and a past president of the Cortland County Bar Association.
Don’s practice includes Municipal Law, Zoning Law, Residential Real Estate, Commercial Real Estate, Estate Administration, Estate Planning, Estate Litigation, Adoption Law, Elder Law, Medicaid Planning, Commercial Transactions, Lender Law, Business Formation, General Litigation. Representative municipal and non-profit clients include Towns of Preble, Cuyler, Solon, Freetown, Truxton and Marathon; Cortlandville Fire District, Family Counseling Services, Inc., and Family Connections, Inc. He serves as examining counsel for Stewart Title Insurance Company and First American Abstract Company.
In addition to the above community involvement, Don has coached hockey in the Cortland area over a span of 35 years. Don was a longtime head coach of the Cortland-Homer high school hockey team and also served as coaching director for the Cortland Youth Hockey Association for a number of years. In his spare time he enjoys plying the waters of Skaneateles Lake, along with hiking, biking, cross country skiing, hunting and fishing.
